James is a partner at Hanner Law Office. He joined the firm in 1977.
Jim has extensive trial experience in both civil and criminal matters. Jim served as the Prosecutor of Parke County from 1979 to 1986. He also currently serves as a Deputy Prosecutor in Putnam County. Because of this position, Jim no longer practices criminal law. He instead focuses his practice on a variety of civil matters, including estate planning and administration, issues involving real estate or contracts, personal injury suits, and guardianships.
In addition to his experience in the courtroom, Jim has also served as a mediator in civil cases since 1991, having participated in the first civil mediation certification training seminar held in the State of Indiana.
Jim has three children, Erin, Benjamin, and Chelsea, and one grandson, Max. Chelsea practices law at Ice Miller LLP in Indianapolis and is a fourth generation attorney.
